“A Contemporary Analysis of The Bull vs. Bear in Indian Stock Market”

  September 22, 2026 (Tuesday)
Time: 02:00 PM Onwards
Venue: Room No. F-106, MSoBM Department

Objective of the Event

The objective of the event was to help students understand the cyclical nature of the Indian stock market and to build awareness of how bullish and bearish phases influence investor sentiment, valuations, and portfolio decisions. The session aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical market concepts and the real-world signals that shape market direction.

The activity focused on:

  • Comparing bull market phases — marked by rising indices, strong investor confidence, and expanding valuations — with bear market phases marked by sustained corrections, risk aversion, and a flight towards safer asset classes.
  • Understanding the role of macroeconomic indicators, FII and DII flows, interest rate movements, and global cues in determining the direction and momentum of Indian markets.
  • Building awareness of risk management, diversification, and long-term wealth creation strategies suited to both rising and falling market conditions.

Participating Students

The session witnessed the active participation of 62 students from the MBA, BBA, and B.Com programmes. Organized under the Finance Club initiative, students engaged enthusiastically with the discussion, case examples, and interactive segments, drawing connections between classroom concepts and real-world market movements.

Event Details

The Finance Club at Maharishi University of Information Technology (MUIT), Noida, organized an engaging session on "A Contemporary Analysis of the Bull vs. Bear in the Indian Stock Market."

The event was designed to help students critically examine how bull and bear cycles have shaped the Indian stock market in recent years, and what these cycles mean for the next generation of investors.

The session opened with a discussion on the basic characteristics of bull and bear markets, followed by an exploration of the forces that drive these cycles in India — corporate earnings, inflation and interest rate trends, foreign and domestic institutional flows, retail participation through systematic investment plans, and global geopolitical developments. Students participated in interactive discussions and activity-based exercises, where they interpreted index movements, identified market indicators, and proposed strategies for protecting and growing capital across both phases of the cycle.

Participants were evaluated on the depth of their market reasoning, clarity in comparing bullish and bearish scenarios, and the practicality of the strategies they proposed. The activity encouraged students to think critically about risk appetite, investor psychology, and the discipline required to stay invested through volatile market phases.

The event concluded with a motivating address by Prof. (Dr.) Azad Singh, Dean, MSoBM, who commended the students' enthusiasm and encouraged them to stay informed and disciplined as India's stock market continues to mature in line with the nation's growing financial ecosystem.
