Date: 15th September 2026
Time: 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Organized by: Maharishi School of Humanities, MUIT Noida, in association with IQAC
The School of Humanities organized an academic visit to Amrit Udyan, New Delhi, on 15 September 2026. The visit was attended by students of B.A. 2nd Year, 3rd Year, and 4th Year, along with students of B.Sc. 3rd Year. The initiative was planned to give students an opportunity to observe plant diversity, garden landscapes, and natural surroundings directly, while developing greater awareness of biodiversity and the environment through learning outside the classroom.
Visit Overview and Academic Context
The educational visit commenced at around 10:00 a.m. under the guidance and support of Prof. (Dr.) Archana Pandey, Dean, School of Humanities, and under the supervision of the faculty members of the School of Humanities. It focused on exposing students to the botanical diversity, landscaped spaces, garden design, and environmental significance of Amrit Udyan.
The gardens, with their varied plant life, landscaped areas, and natural surroundings, provided an appropriate setting for observation and experiential learning. Students participated actively and showed interest in the different aspects of the visit.
Faculty Guidance and Coordination
The planning and conduct of the visit involved the dedicated efforts of the faculty coordination team. Mr. Amit, Dr. Akansha, and Dr. Alok Singh coordinated and supervised the visit, ensuring that the activities remained organized throughout.
The faculty members accompanied the students through the various garden spaces and guided their observations and discussions on plants, biodiversity, environmental awareness, botanical knowledge, conservation, and landscaping.
Objectives
The visit was organized with specific academic and environmental objectives. Its primary purpose was to give students direct exposure to diverse plant life and professionally maintained garden landscapes, allowing them to relate academic concepts to real-world observation.
The visit also aimed to familiarize students with plant characteristics and diversity, the importance of biodiversity, basic principles of landscaping, and the role of gardens in environmental awareness and conservation. Students were encouraged to observe natural systems closely and consider the relationship between human-designed environments and the natural world, thereby strengthening the connection between theoretical classroom learning and practical experience.
Exploring Amrit Udyan: Key Highlights
Amrit Udyan provided students with a diverse natural setting in which to observe plants, gardens, landscaped areas, and different elements of biodiversity. Students had sufficient opportunity to explore their surroundings, while faculty members provided explanations and guidance wherever required.
Students observed a wide variety of plants and garden spaces, gaining a closer understanding of plant diversity, vegetation, and the visual and ecological aspects of landscaped environments. They examined how different plant forms were arranged within designed spaces and how these arrangements contributed to the overall aesthetic and environmental character of the gardens.
The visit also helped students understand the importance of biodiversity and environmental conservation. Through direct observation, they were encouraged to recognize the value of maintaining diverse plant life and well-managed green spaces, and the experience highlighted the educational and recreational roles gardens can serve alongside their environmental significance.
The landscaped sections offered an opportunity to observe garden planning, plant arrangement, and the relationship between natural elements and designed spaces. At relevant points, faculty members facilitated discussions connecting these observations to botanical knowledge, environmental studies, ecology, conservation, and sustainable interaction with nature.
Student Participation and Academic Engagement
Students participated actively throughout the visit and showed genuine curiosity about the plants, gardens, and surrounding natural environment. Many made observations and interacted with faculty members on topics including plant diversity, botanical characteristics, environmental significance, conservation, and landscaping practices.
Faculty members also facilitated informal group discussions at relevant points, allowing students to share their observations and consider the connections between the natural environment and their academic studies in the humanities and sciences.
Students showed particular interest in the variety of plants and the systematic arrangement of the garden spaces, and were encouraged to look beyond the gardens' aesthetic appearance to consider their ecological, educational, and environmental significance. Discussions among students also touched on biodiversity, conservation, environmental responsibility, and the importance of sustainable practices.
Key Learning Outcomes
The academic visit to Amrit Udyan provided meaningful learning outcomes for the participating students. Through direct engagement with the gardens and surrounding environment, students developed a practical understanding of plant diversity, biodiversity, environmental awareness, and conservation.
The visit also helped students appreciate the importance of green spaces and the planning and knowledge involved in maintaining gardens that are both aesthetically and environmentally meaningful, allowing them to relate classroom concepts to their practical manifestation in a real-world setting.
The experience further strengthened students' awareness of responsible interaction with nature and the importance of preserving biodiversity for future generations.
Conclusion
The educational visit was a valuable academic experience for the participating students of the B.A. and B.Sc. programmes. Guided observation of the gardens and natural surroundings helped students develop a deeper understanding of plant diversity, biodiversity, environmental conservation, and the significance of carefully designed green spaces, while encouraging reflection on the natural environment beyond conventional classroom learning.
The visit helped connect classroom-based knowledge with direct environmental exposure and supported the institution's focus on holistic and experiential education. Such learning experiences give students the opportunity to engage directly with their surroundings and develop greater awareness of nature, biodiversity, and practical learning.
